The UT278A+ from UNI-T is a clamp-on earth resistance tester. Based on the principle of mutual induction, it can measure earthing resistances without disconnecting the earthing conductors and without auxiliary electrodes, both in earthing systems with multiple earthing conductors and with a single earthing conductor. Unlike the similar UT276A+, it has an extended range of measuring earth loop resistances up to 1200Ω and in addition can also measure leakage currents through the earth loop in the range of 0.00mA to 20.0A.
The tester is designed for professional use with resistance to shock, dust and moisture and is microprocessor controlled for accurate grounding resistance identification, including a fast filtering function for interfering signals, using advanced arithmetic methods. It is designed for the measurement of earthing systems in power plants, power and telecommunication distribution systems, oil fields, computer rooms, electromechanical installations and maintenance in industrial plants, wherever electricity is used as an industrial power source or where it is necessary to check the earthing resistance of lightning rods. The instrument measures earth loop resistance from 0.01 Ω to 1200 Ω with a resolution of 0.001 Ω and leakage currents from 0 to 20A, the measured values are displayed on the EBTN four-character backlit display (bright data on a dark background) and at the same time the values can be stored in the internal memory (up to 300 groups of values). The instrument is powered by four 1.5V alkaline batteries.
