The UT 387S is a wall scanner that can detect ferrous and non-ferrous metals, electrical cables and wooden parts hidden in walls, ceilings, floors and under drywall. A laser for convenient distance measurement and a wood moisture detector are built-in as additional features. The instrument includes a large 2.4" display that shows icons of the objects found: wooden object, small metal object (nails), large metal material (steel structure), small non-magnetic metal (cable, wire), small amount of metal objects (cables, nails) The depth of the objects and the presence of AC voltage (elmag. field) The best accuracy for locating electrical wires is achieved when live wires are connected to the appliance and the appliance is turned on.

The laser rangefinder allows measuring distances up to approx. 20m and an additional reflecting surface (reflector) up to 40m with automated calculation of rectangular areas and rectangular volumes. It can also calculate the height of objects according to the Phytagore's theorem by measuring one suspension and one hypotenuse. It also allows the following modes: single measurement, addition and subtraction of measured values, continuous measurement of distances, areas, volumes, heights in a right triangle, conversion of units of measurement. Allows 30 groups of data to be stored in memory and historical data to be recalled from memory. Voice announcements, buzzer, silent mode.

The built-in moisture detector for wood and similar building materials measures moisture at a depth of up to approx. 8mm and in the range of 6% to 40% when the probe is pricked into the material.

Power is provided by a built-in 300mAh lithium-ion battery that charges via USB-C. Automatic calibration.
