AGM Super Cycle batteries are the result of the latest developments in battery electrochemistry.
The positive plate paste is less susceptible to softening, even after repeated 100% discharges of the battery. New additives in the electrolyte reduce sulfation during deep discharge.
Exceptional performance at 100% depth of discharge (DoD)
Tests have shown that the Super Cycle battery can withstand at least three hundred cycles at 100% depth of discharge (DoD).
The tests consist of daily discharge to 10.8 V at I = 0.2 C20, followed by approximately two hours of rest in a discharged state, and then recharging at I = 0.2 C20.
Two hours in a fully discharged state will damage most batteries within 100 cycles, but not the Super Cycle battery.
We recommend the Super Cycle battery for applications where occasional discharges to 100% DoD or frequent discharges to 60–80% DoD are expected.
Smaller and lighter
Another advantage of the new chemical composition is that it is slightly smaller and lighter than standard deep-cycle AGM batteries.
When connecting batteries in series, it is necessary to use battery balancer, which ensures even charging and a longer battery life.
Victron Energy gel batteries are designed for smaller off-grid battery and photovoltaic applications, such as powering cottages and other structures located outside the reach of the electrical grid that are used seasonally.
