This self-adhesive dilation strip runs along the perimeter of every underfloor heating field, wherever the floating screed meets a wall, column, door threshold or other fixed structure. Supplied as a 25 m roll measuring 150 mm in height and 8 mm in thickness, it is applied before the screed is poured and simply peeled and stuck into place.

Once the screed cures, the strip acts as a compressible buffer that takes up the thermal expansion of the floor, so the load-bearing structure is not put under stress and the risk of stress cracks forming at the edges is greatly reduced. It is also used to physically separate adjoining heating zones within the same room, which is essential wherever the room is split into circuits with different thermostats.

One 25 m roll is normally enough for an average family house perimeter; larger installations will need several rolls, and the strip is trimmed to height on site with a utility knife.
