The IVAR.IVN412 28-22 mm reducer (code IVN412.2822) joins a 28 mm line to a 22 mm pipe in the IVAR.PRESS FITTING SYSTEM made of stainless steel 1.4301 (AISI 304).

Connection sides

• 28 mm spigot end – no seal of its own; it is inserted like a pipe into a 28 mm press fitting and pressed in that fitting's socket.
• 22 mm press socket – EPDM O-ring in the LBP version and orange press indicator; takes the 22 mm pipe.
• Overall length: 66 mm

Media and operating range

Suitable for closed heating and cooling circuits, solar systems, compressed air and vacuum lines, inert and technical gases, technical and process fluids, industrial installations as well as waste water and rainwater. The fitting is rated PN 16, withstands vacuum down to -0.8 bar (0.2 bar absolute) and operates from -20 °C to +120 °C; antifreeze may make up at most 50 % of the fluid.

Do not use it for drinking water. The body is marked accordingly – besides the AISI 304 logo, the size and a traceability code, it carries a symbol that rules out potable water use.

Pressing step by step

• Cut the pipe square and deburr it inside and out.
• If necessary, wet the O-ring with water only; never use oil, grease or any other lubricant.
• Insert the pipe with a slight twist up to the stop and mark the insertion depth.
• Press both joints – the 22 mm socket and the 28 mm spigot inside the adjoining fitting – with single M-profile jaws; V-profile tools are not allowed.
• According to the manual, even portable low-force presses (up to 17 kN) can handle diameters up to approx. 28 mm.
• Press each joint only once – repeating the press cycle could damage the seal.

An unpressed 22 mm socket gives itself away in the pressure test: the LBP (Leak Before Press) O-ring lets water escape, and the orange strip, which tears during pressing, stays intact.

Professional installation: follow the IVAR.PRESS FITTING SYSTEM manual and flush the system before start-up; for treating the heating water, IVAR recommends GEL.LONG LIFE 100.

Which end of the 28-22 mm reducer takes the pipe?
The 22 mm pipe goes into the reducer's press socket. The 28 mm end is a plain spigot – it is inserted into the socket of a 28 mm press fitting like a pipe and pressed there.

Is the IVAR.IVN412 reducer suitable for drinking water?
No. The AISI 304 fittings of the IVN412 series are not suitable for drinking water and bear a symbol to that effect. They are intended for closed heating and cooling circuits, solar systems, compressed air, technical gases and similar media.

Which press jaws and press tool are needed for the 28-22 mm reducer?
