Unlike a plain quick connector, this version has a built-in stop function: pulling the mating nipple out shuts off the water flow automatically, so there's no need to run back to the tap every time a hose or accessory is unplugged.
The internal thread lets it screw directly onto a tap or fitting with a matching external thread, and it's sized for 1/2'' or 5/8'' hose on the other side.
