The detector continuously monitors the surrounding area and if smoke particles are detected, it automatically increases the sensitivity of the smoke detection. Optical sensors are suitable for the detection of slow smouldering fires. Power is provided by a pair of AA alkaline batteries for up to 5 years, which are also included.
