MPPT solar controller Victron Energy SmartSolar 100/50
Code: TI_04280224Product detailed description
Robust and fast MPPT controller for harsh conditions with panel voltages up to 100 V, maximum charging current 50 A. Battery 12/24V, PV max 700/1400Wp. Full 5 years warranty. Integrated bluetooth.
As a testament to the high quality of all MPPT controllers, Victron Energy provides a 5 year extended full warranty.
Victron Energy's MPPT solar controllers are among the absolute world leaders in this field. It offers ultra-fast MPPT tracking to ensure maximum possible solar gains. Especially under overcast skies with frequent changes in illuminance, solar gains are 30% higher compared to conventional PWM controllers or 10% higher compared to slower MPPT controllers.
The maximum output of the solar panels is 700 Wp for 12 V systems and 1400 Wp for 24 V systems. If these values are exceeded, the controller will not be damaged, but will only automatically reduce the incoming power from the panels to acceptable values. The solar controller is factory pre-set for eight battery types - the selection of the appropriate type is made using a rotary switch located on the body of the controller.
The maximum void voltage (referred to as Voc) of the connected solar panels must not exceed 100V (note: the voltage of the solar panels increases as the outside temperature decreases). The maximum input short-circuit current of the PV panels must not exceed 60A, otherwise permanent damage may occur.
New range of SmartSolar MPPT controllers offers built-in Bluetooth
This new feature brings the possibility to connect your "smart" phone/tablet with your "smart" solar controller.
You can monitor many system parameters and historical statistics for the last 30 days. Furthermore, you have the possibility to make adjustments to the operating parameters.
You can also download the VictronConnect app for free on Google Play or in the App Store.
If you want to do the above using a PC, then you have the option of using a VE.direct to USB cable to connect the controller and the PC. All you need to do is install the Victron Connect program on your PC.
The internal electronic components are protected by a resin coating against harsh influences and for long life. It thus offers an increased protection rating of IP43 for electronic components and IP22 for connection connectors. Designed for vertical positioning on a flame retardant substrate, with wiring from below.
The controller includes an internal temperature sensor to adjust the charging voltage accordingly. Automatic detection of system voltage 12/24 V.
Adaptive three-stage charging:
1. fast Charge (Bulk), 2. Absorption and 3. Float. Initially in fast charging, high current and lower voltage is generated to quickly recharge the discharged battery. This phase is followed by a constant voltage with current reduction for a full charge of the battery without dangerous overcharging reducing the battery life. The charged battery is maintained in a charged state by both very low current and low voltage. If the battery voltage drops below 13.2 V, for example due to load, a new charge cycle is initiated.
The voltage from the panels must exceed the battery voltage by 5 V for the controller to start working and charge the battery. The controller charges until the voltage from the panels is 1 V higher than the battery voltage. For a 12 V battery, we recommend panels with a minimum of 32 cells and a maximum of 108 cells (panels in series). It is therefore possible to charge both a 12 V battery and panels with an operating voltage of 24 V. For 24 V systems, we recommend panels with a minimum of 72 cells and a maximum of 108 cells. The purpose is to achieve sufficient voltage for efficient and full battery charging.
This more powerful range of solar controllers is not equipped with a DC output. To connect a DC load to the battery, we recommend using a "BP Battery Protector" with a maximum load current of up to 220A.
