The PNI SWI170 is a smart watering timer that attaches to a garden hose or water line and opens and closes the supply on a schedule. You control it from the Tuya Smart mobile app, so you can water the garden remotely, whether you are at home or on holiday. You can choose between a scheduled and a manual mode.

The device connects to your home network over Wi-Fi on 2.4 GHz. It works with the Amazon Alexa and Google Home voice assistants, so you can start watering by voice. It suits a vegetable garden, a lawn or ornamental plantings and can be integrated into a larger irrigation system.

The working flow rate is 500 to 1700 litres per hour and it withstands a pressure of up to 1 MPa (10 bar). IP55 protection keeps out dust and water splashes, so the timer can stay outdoors. It runs on four AA alkaline batteries and, at 75 x 55 x 125 mm, fits in a tight spot by the tap.

Connection and accessories

The inlet has a 3/4" female thread and the outlet a 3/4" male thread. Besides the timer, the box contains accessories for connecting it to the irrigation system. Before installing, check that you have a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi signal at the location.
