The SilverCloud SafePC 650AVR is a backup power supply for a computer, monitor, router and other small electronics. When the mains drops out it switches to its own battery within 2 to 6 ms, so equipment keeps running and you have time to shut down safely. Output is 600 VA (360 W) and the 12 V / 7 Ah battery is built in.
A built-in AVR stabiliser corrects the output to 195–245 V when the mains voltage fluctuates, so the battery is not drained unnecessarily. The unit also protects against overload, short circuit, overheating, and battery over-charge or deep discharge.
The LCD display and audible alarms warn of a low battery, a switch to battery power and overload. With the USB cable and software supplied you can monitor the UPS from a PC. There are two Schuko outlets for your equipment and two RJ connectors that protect a fixed telephone line.
Use and limitations
The output is a modified sine wave, so the unit suits office and small electronics. Do not use it with pumps, motors, laser printers or other inductive loads. With a PC and a 15" monitor the manufacturer states a backup time of 10 to 20 minutes; recharging takes about 12 hours.
