The MC111CS is a media converter designed to convert media from 100BASE-FX optical line to 100BASE-TX metallic line and vice versa. With WDM technology, the MC111CS module uses only one optical cable to send and receive data, cutting cabling costs in half. The MC111CS media converter , which has been designed to IEEE 802.3u 10/100Base-TX and 100Base-FX standards, is intended for use with singlemode fiber optic cable with an SC-type connector. The MC111CS media converter supports the Long Wave Laser (LX) specification at maximum packet forwarding speed. It uses a wavelength of 1,550 nm for sending data and 1,310 nm for receiving data. This means that the other end-device must use 1 310 nm for sending data and 1 550 nm for receiving data in order to interoperate with the MC111CS. The TP-LINK MC112CS media converter is an example of a unit that works with the MC111CS module. Other features of this module include the ability to be used as a standalone device (no chassis required), automatic MDI/MDI-X detection for the TX port, automatic duplex mode negotiation on the TX port, and front panel status LEDs. The MC111CS supports data transmission over a single mode fiber optic cable over distances up to 20 km.
