The EdgePoint EP-S16 from Ubiquiti Networks is an outdoor Gigabit L2/L3 switch with support for output POE on all 16 ports and input POE on the first two ports. With this product, you will no longer have to pull cables from the roof to the lower floors for each active element separately, or devise a complex solution involving an outdoor rack, switch installation, power supply and POE. Now you have everything in one. In terms of connectors and interfaces, the device is very feature rich and includes (16) 10/100/1000Mbps Ethernet ports with POE support, (2) SFP/SFP+ ports at 1/10Gbps, (1) serial RJ45 port and a DC terminal block for direct power connection. The entire device is powered by a 400MHz ARM Cortex-A9 processor, 256MB RAM and 32MB internal storage. POE IN - Power over Ethernet for the EdgePoint EP-S16 has its limits and for multiple connected devices it is recommended to use power over the DC terminal block. Ports 1 and 2 are dedicated for POE IN purposes if required. The entire unit is powered via passive POE 54V/1.5A over the wires (+1, 2, 4, 5; -3, 6, 7, 8). If POE IN is used on ports 1 or 2, the POE Out function cannot be used on these ports at the same time. POE Out - The POE Out ports are divided into two groups according to the power consumption and also according to the wires over which the power is routed. - The first group of ports 1 - 4 supports passive POE 54V or 24V/1.4A and it is power on all wires (+1, 2, 4, 5; -3, 6, 7, 8). These ports are intended for powering e.g. AF-5X units. - The second group of ports 5 - 16 supports 802.3af/at or passive 24V/0.7A. In case of passive POE, it is a power supply on the wires (+4, 5; -7, 8). Suitable for e.g.: for PowerBeam units and cameras. Thanks to the highly sophisticated EdgeOS operating system, basic switch functions, PoE configuration and monitoring and advanced functions such as VLAN configuration, RSTP, Link aggregation, DHCP snooping, RADIUS authentication and routing are possible.
