Step up to G1 and this check valve is doing a different job than its smaller siblings — protecting a main supply line rather than a single branch, for example ahead of a water heater or at the main inlet of a house or small commercial unit.
The brass spindle keeps the internal disc aligned so it opens cleanly under forward flow and seats immediately on any reversal, stopping backflow from reaching the supply it's fitted on.
