Detailed information

Product detailed description

The charger is designed for charging the external battery in cars with controlled, so-called smart charging, which is used in modern cars to achieve the lowest possible emissions. It contains an inverter that is capable of increasing and decreasing the input voltage to create the optimum voltage for charging the external battery.
It connects to the primary starter battery and uses the vehicle's alternator potential even when the starter battery charge is limited to reduce emissions.
Solar panels can also be connected to the charger to charge the external battery when the alternator is not charging it.
An automatic mains charger (AC-DC) can also be connected to the terminals of the external battery without the need to disconnect the DC-DC charger.

Technical parameters:

Input voltage: 12.4-16 V DC.
Input voltage from solar panels: 16-25 VDC (PV panels with a system voltage of 12 V connected in parallel must be used).
Maximum current from solar panels: 40A (max. 500W), PWM controller
System output voltage: 12VDC
Charging voltage: 14-15.4 V depending on the secondary battery used (Pb or LiFePO4)
Maintenance voltage: 13.5 V (only for variants with Pb battery)
Charging current of secondary battery: max. 40 A
Three-stage intelligent charging of the secondary battery
Connected battery types: lead acid, AGM/GEL, calcium, LiFePO4
Dimensions: 210x140x40 mm
Net weight: 1.1 kg

Charging priority:
1) 12V voltage at the "ACC" input (ignition on, preferably with the engine running):
In this mode, the external battery is charged only from the DC input, i.e. from the vehicle's on-board mains. Charging from photovoltaic panels is blocked. The DC input voltage must be >12 V
2) There is no 12V voltage at the "ACC" input (ignition off or engine inactive mode).
In this mode, the external battery is preferably charged from the photovoltaic panels. If the panels are out of service (Uoutput <16V), charging is done from the DC input if a voltage >13VDC is available. Thus, there is no risk of discharging the primary battery.

Remark:
A standard mains charger that is part of the caravan or trailer's on-board network can also be connected to the secondary battery terminals. The charging of both connected chargers is then controlled by the voltage at the terminals of the secondary battery being charged, so you don't have to worry about damaging the secondary battery.
