The IVN422.28 bend turns a 28 mm stainless press line through 45°. Both legs are press sockets with EPDM O-rings for pipes of the same outside diameter, and the full bore is kept – the fitting is not reduced. AISI 304 stainless steel (W.-Nr. 1.4301), type IVAR.IVN422.

Where it can be used

Closed heating, chilled-water and solar circuits, compressed air and vacuum lines, inert and technical gases, technical and process fluids, industrial systems, waste water and rainwater. Not for drinking water – the body carries a warning symbol next to the AISI 304 logo, size and traceability code.

Pressing the 28 mm joint

Use single-piece M-contour jaws (specified for 15–35 mm); V-contour tools are prohibited for every size. A light 17 kN tool is enough here (rated up to about 28 mm). An unpressed joint stands out: the orange strip stays intact until the jaws tear it, and the LBP O-ring leaks during the pressure test. Keep at least 10 mm between two press fittings.

On site

Cut the pipe square with a pipe cutter or fine-toothed saw (no grinder or torch) and deburr it inside and out. Wet the O-ring with water only, never oil or grease. Push the pipe in with a slight twist to the stop, mark the insertion depth (a marking template for 15–54 mm is available on request) and press once; a slight bulge on the socket is normal. Flush the system before start-up and follow the IVAR.PRESS FITTING SYSTEM manual. A version with one plug-in end for direct fitting-to-fitting connection is IVAR.IVN423.

Frequently asked questions

Does the IVN422.28 need a piece of pipe between it and the next fitting?
Yes. Both legs are press sockets for 28 mm pipe, so the bend cannot be pushed into another fitting directly. For a fitting-to-fitting connection, IVAR offers the IVAR.IVN423 45° bend with one plug-in end.

What press tooling does the 28 mm size need?
Single-piece M-contour jaws; a light press tool up to 17 kN is enough for this size. V-contour jaws must never be used.

How far apart must two press fittings be?
For 28 mm pipe the manual specifies a minimum gap of 10 mm between two press fittings. Fittings placed closer together can compromise the tightness of the joints.

Is the bend suitable for drinking water?
No. The AISI 304 range is not intended for drinking water, and the fitting body carries a warning symbol. Typical uses are heating, cooling, solar circuits, compressed air and technical media.
