IVAR.LONG 500 antifreeze concentrate with inhibitor, propylene glycol – for heating and solar circuits, 30 l – SALE
Code: IVA.030.L500Product detailed description
IVAR.LONG 500 is a concentrate for preparing an antifreeze heat transfer fluid. It is based on non-toxic propylene glycol and contains an inhibitor that reduces the risk of corrosion and the formation of limescale deposits. Code IVA.030.L500 is the 30 l pack; the concentrate is also sold in 5 l and 60 l packs.
Where it can be used
- all types of heating systems, including underfloor heating and systems with aluminium radiators
- solar thermal circuits
How much concentrate
Share of LONG 500 in the mixture with water for the required protection: −3 °C – 12 %, −6 °C – 18 %, −10 °C – 25 %, −15 °C – 32 %, −20 °C – 40 %, −25 °C – 47 %. The mixing ratio on the product label is always binding. Example: a circuit holding 100 l that must withstand −15 °C needs 32 l of concentrate and 68 l of water.
Filling procedure
- make sure the circuit contains no residues of acids, alkalis, oils, other antifreezes, inhibitors, refrigerants or abrasives – remove them if present
- drain the water, measure its volume and calculate the dose from the volume and the lowest expected temperature
- mix the concentrate with water beforehand and fill the solution from the lowest point of the system to limit air entrainment
- after about 2 hours of operation check the concentration and clean the filters; repeat the check within 24 hours at the latest
Operation and handling
At least once a month, check the system pressure and the condition of filters and dirt separators. Measure the glycol content with a propylene glycol refractometer and keep the pH of the fluid at 7.5 or above. LONG 500 must not be mixed with other products or with chemicals from other manufacturers. Wear goggles and gloves when handling it and store it tightly closed at 5–35 °C, away from direct sunlight.

Frequently asked questions
How do I calculate the amount of concentrate?
Start from the water volume of the system and the lowest expected temperature. For example, protection down to −15 °C requires 32 % concentrate, i.e. 32 l of LONG 500 for a 100 l circuit.
Can LONG 500 be added to a system that already contains another antifreeze?
No. Residues of other antifreezes, inhibitors and foreign substances must be removed first, because mixing different products can cause precipitates or damage the system.
Is it suitable for aluminium radiators and underfloor heating?
Yes, the manufacturer specifies it for all types of heating systems, including those with aluminium radiators and underfloor heating.
How often should the fluid be checked?
About 2 hours after filling, again within 24 hours, and then the pressure and filters at least once a month. Check the glycol concentration with a refractometer and keep the pH at 7.5 or higher.
