Solar controller VOLT Green Boost Pro 4000 Sinus BYPASS for water heating
Code: TI_04280374Product detailed description
Solar inverter/controller MPPT VOLT GREEN BOOST FOR 4000 SINUS BYPASS 4kW (for photovoltaic water heating)
The solar inverter is used to power heating devices such as electric boilers, heaters, heating mats, electric direct current heaters, etc. directly from photovoltaic panels without the use of battery storage.
It allows you to connect two heating appliances, for example two boilers. Both will be heated at the same time. Thanks to the use of MPPT technology, it maximises the use of energy from the photovoltaic panels and automatically adapts to the power input of the appliance.
What makes the GREEN BOOST PRE 4000 SINUS BYPASS solar inverter different?
Multifunctionality (BYPASS) - the inverter can be connected to both solar panels and the electricity grid.
Pure SINUS - the inverter produces a "sinusoidal" voltage at its output. In this way it can power inductive appliances such as power tools, air conditioners, refrigerators, freezers, etc.
Input voltage 120 to 500V DC.
Output voltage 70 to 245V AC/50Hz.
Maximum power 4000W.
Voltage waveform pure sine wave.
MPPT/STABLE controller.
Photovoltaic panel wiring - serial.
Protection - overload, short circuit, thermal, overvoltage.
Aluminium packaging.
LED display.
Active fan cooling.
The minimum cable diameter of the PV panel supply cable is 4 mm2.
How does the VOLT GREEN BOOST 4000 inverter work?
The direct current produced by solar panels is not suitable for directly powering heating equipment. The inverter converts it to AC current, which can be used to power heating equipment. The panels must be connected in series with a total Vmp (breakdown voltage) of up to 500 V. The imp current is 10A.
The GREEN BOOST PRO 4000 SINUS BYPASS solar inverter has an internal maximum protection power of 4kW, the total power of the panels should not exceed 4kW.
Both sockets work simultaneously with a power output of up to 4 kW (total). Green Boost allows you to connect two heating appliances, for example two boilers. Both will heat up at the same time.
2 modes of operation
STABLE mode - the output voltage is 230V AC (50Hz) and is maintained when sufficient power is obtained from the solar panels. If the output from the panels is too low, the device will not supply power to the output sockets.
MPPT mode - the output voltage can oscillate between 70-245V AC (50Hz), so at low power from solar panels (low sunlight) it will supply power to the output sockets from 70V AC.
What equipment allows the inverter to be powered?
Electric boilers
Radiators
Electric heaters
Electric mats
Underfloor heating
Description of the system and the two outputs
The system is very simple and functional. It needs PV panels which will be connected in series and their total direct current (DC) voltage will be in the range of 120V to 500V and maximum power of 4000W.
When the voltage from the PV panels is detected, the inverter automatically switches on. This will be confirmed by an indication LED.
After connecting the voltage from the photovoltaic installation (120 V - 500 V DC), the inverter checks for the presence of appliances. Both outlets can operate simultaneously. This allows you to connect and operate two heating devices up to a maximum system output of 4000W.
Thanks to the implemented MPPT function, the inverter automatically adapts to the power of the heater and adjusts its operating point so that the energy received from the photovoltaic panel system is maximized.
Protections
overload protection
short circuit protection
thermal protection (100 °C)
surge protection
In addition, the device has internal protection of maximum power, which is 4kW (the total power of the panels should not exceed 4kW).
LED display
The Green Boost inverter is equipped with an LED display that informs the user about the parameters of the PV installation:
SOLAR STATUS - when the PV voltage is greater than 80% of the rated voltage of the device, the indicator will light up. Otherwise it will flash
PRIMARY OUTPUT - lights up when socket 1 is functional
SECONDARY OUTPUT - lights up when socket 2 is functional
PV VOLTAGE - actual PV input voltage
PV CURRENT - current PV input current
OUTPUT VOLTAGE - output voltage status, displays the current output voltage of the converter
MPPT MODE - illuminates when the MPPT operating mode is selected
OVER HEAT - lights up when the device is overheating
SYSTEM FAULT - illuminates when the PV voltage is too high, or the inverter is not working properly (steady light), or warns of overload (light flashes)
How many photovoltaic panels do I need?
When choosing photovoltaic solar panels, follow a few principles. If you choose the type and number of panels, when you choose fewer panels, you will choose panels with higher voltage, when you choose more panels, you will choose panels with lower voltage. Caution - do not underestimate surge protection, DC disconnect, fuse protection and earthing.
The total power of the panels should be approximately the same or higher than the power input of the coil in the boiler. It is important not to overload the coil with high voltages.
At lower power, everything will work as well, but will reduce the chances of full heating purely from the panels on cloudy days. Especially then in winter.
Choose the number of panels (connected in series/back-to-back) such that the panels, when added together, provide approximately the voltage of the spiral.
For example, 6 pcs of 450Wp panels are often used, which provide at max. power about 42V
(6x42V = 252V, 6x450W = 2700W)
The maximum panel voltage (Vmax) without load (no-load voltage - Voc) must not exceed the maximum permissible input voltage of the inverter even in freezing weather, when the voltage is noticeably higher!
