Product detailed description

Surge protector VCX L1-4-B+C AC class T1T2 (B+C) 4P 8kA Professional

Modular surge protector VCX-L1-4-B+C 8 kA Class T1 T2 is designed to protect LV power installations against induced and switching overvoltages.

It can be installed in TN-S, TN-C and IT networks. It should be mounted as second level of protection in floor switchboards, sub switchboards.

Main features

-  Provides complete protection of the electrical installation and electrical equipment powered by it.
-  Provides full protection electrical installations and electrical equipment supplied from them from the effects of lightning current and other types of overvoltage.
-  Reduces overvoltage and brings to ground overvoltages coming from both types of overvoltage - direct and indirect. At the same time, it provides two levels of protection.
-  It does not require the use of so-called isolation chokes.
-  Provides effective protection for computers, household appliancesetc.
-  Equipped with a visual indicator of operation (green - protection, red - no protection).

Installation of protection

Surge protectors should be installed at the entry points of electrical installations into the building. They provide complete protection of the electrical installation and the electrical equipment supplied from it from part of the lightning current and other types of overvoltage. They reduce overvoltages and conduct to earth the surge currents from both types of overvoltages - direct and indirect.

At the same time provide a two-tier level of protection.the use of modular surge protectors VCX-L1-4-B+C 8kA class T1T2 does not require the use of isolating reactors. They provide effective protection for computers, consumer electronics/appliances, etc. They are equipped with a visual indicator of operation (green - protection, red - no protection).

How to overcome induced and switching overvoltages?

The effects of induced and switching surges on the home or business electrical grid are usually deplorable;Overvoltage, i.e. a sudden increase in voltage above the rated value (safe for electrical equipment such as computers or televisions) are very dangerous and imply significant repair and replacement costs.

Our VCX Class T1T2 (B+C), 8 kA modular surge protectors are an excellent way to protect LV power installations from the effects of such events. Class T1T2 (B+C), 8kA surge arresters should be installed where electrical services enter the building.

Provide protection for installation and electrical equipment from it powered from part of the lightning current and other types of overvoltage. Each of our T1T2 (B+C), 8kA class surge protectors is certified and its parameters exceed the declared ones thanks to the use of a patented varistor element! Surge arresters class T1T2 (B+C), 8kA do not require additional thermal protection!

Complies with all standards

The VCX-L1-4-B+C class T1 T2 8kA modular surge protector meets the relevant requirements of EU harmonisation legislation:

LVD 2014/35/EUdirective of the European Parliament and of the Council of 26 February 2014 on the harmonisation of the laws of the Member States relating to the placing on the market of electrical equipment intended for use within certain voltage limits. References to the relevant harmonised standards used or other technical specifications in relation to which conformity is declared:

EN 61643-11

The VCX-L1-4-B+C 8kA class T1 T2 modular surge protectors comply with the ROHS 2015/863/EU directive.

They have also been successfully tested by the Quality Testing Office of the Association of Polish Electricians.
Quality of the Association of Polish Electricians (BBJ SEP).

Surge protectors - basic information

When analyzing surge protectors, it is first necessary to explain what alternating current is. Translated from the English abbreviation AC (Alternating Current) this term means alternating current. The name alternating refers, as the name suggests, to its alternating action of positive and negative values.

Surge arrester or surge protection, a lightning arrester is a device used in electrical installations. Its purpose is to provide surge protection for the installation and the equipment connected to it.

How does a surge arise in an electrical installation?

It can arise from a number of sourcessuch as a lightning strike directly into the building or its power lines, a lightning strike into the lightning protection system and/or an outdoor installation element, air conditioning, gate control, outdoor lighting, but also a lightning strike into neighbouring properties - up to a distance of 2 km. Another source of surges can be so-called commutation surges, i.e. switching operations during the operation of certain industrial machinery.

Alternating Current (AC) Surge Arresters

Surge arresters have an important function in electrical equipment. This device, also known as a surge protector or varistor (surge arrester), is designed to protect electrical equipment against transient overvoltages caused by lightning strikes to overhead power lines. Overvoltage also occurs when switching on or off unloaded overhead lines. These events can result in damage or even destruction of various network components and insulation. A surge arrester works by limiting the duration and value of the subsequent current.

Type 1 arresters (previously referred to as class B arresters) protects the electrical installation and all loads from overvoltage caused by a direct lightning strike to the power line or lightning protection system in the building of the arrester.

"1+2" type arresters (previously referred to as class B+C arresters) are hybrid devices. Their purpose is to protect against switching surges. They also protect against atmospheric overvoltages caused by lightning strikes to objects located near overhead lines, but also far from the arresters. Even in the event of a direct lightning strike on overhead lines, the "1+2" type arresters provide protection.

Selecting a surge arrester (surge protector)

When selecting a suitable surge arrester for alternating currentthe maximum continuous operating voltage depending on the voltage present between the phase and neutral conductors must be considered. When selecting, attention should be paid to the waveform of the first overvoltage current corresponding to a waveform of 10/350 µs according to the provisions of the standard.

WARNING:

The device may only be installed by an authorized person who is certified according to Decree No. 50/1978 Coll. In case of incorrect wiring and unfamiliarity with the device, unwanted complications may occur. Entrust this work to a specialist.
