Smart BMS 12/200 is Victron's Smart lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) battery management device. It has been specifically designed for 12 V alternator systems, such as in vehicles and boats. This rugged and compact device combines a current limiter, battery jumper and battery protector into one, allowing you to safely connect any size 12 V alternator (and starter battery), load and charger to Smart Series lithium batteries. The Smart BMS 12/200 monitors and protects each cell inside the battery and disconnects the alternator, charging sources or DC load in the event of low battery voltage, high battery voltage or excessive temperature. The dedicated alternator connection provides a unidirectional and limited current flow from the alternator to the battery, so that any size alternator (and starter battery) can be safely connected to the Smart lithium battery and the starter battery is protected from over-discharge. The BMS device also features a Bluetooth interface for monitoring and configuration, a remote on/off connector that turns the BMS (and system) off with a remote switch, and a pre-alarm contact that issues a warning signal before the BMS disconnects the batteries from the system.
