Epoxy insulation board 0.5 × 500 × 620 mm for battery sets
Code: TI_06570138Product detailed description
If you are assembling a battery from prismatic LiFePO4 cells, a dependable layer of insulation belongs between their aluminium casings. That is exactly the job of this FR4 sheet, made of epoxy glass-fibre laminate resin, 0.5 mm thick and measuring 500 × 620 mm.
Prismatic cells expand and contract slightly as they charge and discharge. If their casings rub against each other, the blue film on them can tear and cause a short circuit. The sheet prevents this by forming both an insulating and a mechanical barrier between them.
What the sheet offers
- FR4 has excellent dielectric properties, so even in such a thin layer it reliably prevents breakdown between neighbouring cells
- it acts as a mechanical separator that withstands the pressure created when the cells are clamped together in the battery box
- the material is non-flammable and stays stable when the cells heat up under high currents, which raises the fire safety of the whole system
- because it is so thin, it does not needlessly enlarge the battery and you lose no space between the cells
- it is easy to trim or cut to the size of your cells, for example 280 Ah, 100 Ah or 304 Ah
- it also protects busbars and keeps the BMS separated from the cells
