Detailed information

Product detailed description

The MultiPlus-II GX also includes a GX device and a 2 x 16 character display compared to the MultiPlus II. The display shows the parameters of the solar controller and inverter. The same parameters can be accessed using a smartphone or other Wi-Fi enabled device. The integrated GX device (similar to the Venus GX device, but integrated directly into the unit) includes: - VE.Can interface. - USB port. - Ethernet port. - VE.Direct. MultiPlus-II GX combines MultiPlus and MultiGrid functions It has all the features of the MultiPlus unit plus the option to connect an external current sensor for PowerControl and PowerAssist functions with self-consumption optimization (max. 32A). It also has all the features of the MultiGrid unit with built-in anti-islanding protection on its AC input - enhanced protection to prevent unwanted supply to the distribution network in the event of a grid failure. ESS: Energy Storage Systems The MultiPlus-II GX is a key element in Victron's ESS system, providing the flexibility to combine with solar MPPT controllers or grid-tied PV inverters. The MultiPlus-II GX, as the name suggests, is a combination of inverter and charger in one elegant design. Its feature set includes a pure sine wave inverter, adaptive charging, hybrid PowerAssist technology and other features for integration into various types of systems. One AC input The MultiPlus-II GX is equipped with one AC input for connecting a distribution network or a generator, for example. If two AC inputs are required, then choose the Quattro unit. Two AC outputs MultiPlus-II GX is equipped with two AC outputs. The main AC1 output ensures power supply without interruption. For example, in UPS mode, the MultiPlus-II GX will take over power to connected appliances (in less than 20 milliseconds) in the event of a mains or generator failure. The second AC output is only functional when the AC input (distribution network/generator) is available. Therefore, a load that would quickly drain the batteries, such as a water heater, can be connected to this output and it will only be powered from the AC source. Four phase charging by an adaptive charger with two outputs for battery charging. The main DC output provides powerful full battery charging through an "adaptive charging" system. The software controls the three-stage automatic charging process to suit the condition of the battery and adds a fourth charging stage - maintenance charging. In addition to this, the MultiPlus-II GX can also charge a second battery using an independent charging output designed, for example, for generator starter batteries with a maximum charging current of 4 A. The MultiPlus-II GX is designed to charge all types of lead acid, alkaline and lithium batteries. Virtually unlimited power thanks to parallel operation Up to 6 MultiPlus-II units can operate in parallel to achieve higher performance. Only one unit in the GX version is needed for parallel connection. Three-phase operation Three units of the same type can be configured for three-phase operation with phase shift. But that's not all, up to 6 units in parallel can form a single phase. Thus, a three-phase system can consist of up to 18 units with a total continuous output power of 43.2 kW/54 kVA and a charging capacity of 630 A. In a three-phase system, only one unit in the GX version is required. Unique features of PowerControl and PowerAssist The MultiPlus-II GX prevents overloading of a power-limited AC source, e.g. a current-limited power connection or generator. Should a large draw overload the AC input source, the charging current to the battery will be automatically reduced in the first step (PowerControl). The energy for charging is shifted to power the AC appliances. In the second step, the input AC source is boosted by the current drawn from the battery (PowerAssist). The AC output receives energy from the AC source and the battery (inverter) together. Solar energy AC power can be available even in the event of a grid failure. MuliPlus-II GX can be used in off-grid (islanded) systems as well as in PV systems permanently connected to the distribution grid. The MultiPlus-II is not equipped with a PV array input, but is designed to work with MPPT controllers (DC coupling systems) or grid-tied inverters (AC coupling systems) located at the AC input and/or AC output. For more information see ESS description. System configuration - In the case of a simple e.g. UPS installation, setup can be easily done in a few minutes using the DIP switches on the MultiPlus-II GX or the VE.Configure 3 software and a PC. - Parallel and three-phase applications can be configured using VE.Bus Quick Configure software (up to three units) or more complex systems using VE.Bus System Configurator software (above three units) and a PC. - Off-grid and hybrid PV installations to support self-consumption and greater energy independence, which include grid-tied inverters and/or solar MPPT chargers, can be configured using VE.Configure 3 software with the appropriate assistants (dedicated functions for specific applications). - MultiPlus-II GX has several programmable relays and auxiliary contacts for a variety of additional functions - You can download the basic VE.Configure 3 software as well as other software for configuration options free of charge at the following link: https://www.victronenergy.com/support-and-downloads/software For the above mentioned software you will need a PC communication interface MK3-USB. Remote monitoring and system configuration Monitor and control your system locally or remotely over the internet from anywhere in the world using the free VRM app and the free VRM portal: https://vrm.victronenergy.com/landingpage Access can be from a phone, tablet, laptop or PC for different operating systems. The GX device is integrated in this unit, so there is no need to purchase a Venus GX or Color Control GX unit The MultiPlus-II offers many variants of operation and is able to offer solutions to a range of user requirements. Here are the most common operating modes for reference: 1. Basic installation of the MultiPlus-II GX with an external digital multifunction panel (optional). Designed for systems where the mains is not always available (typically caravans, boats), UPS mode. Appliances on AC out-1 are powered by both mains (preferred) and battery. Appliances on AC out2 are mains powered only, they are not powered in case of mains failure. 2. Basic installation of the MultiPlus-II GX unit with digital multifunction panel (optional). Designed for systems where the mains is not always available (typically caravans, boats). UPS mode. Appliances on AC out-1 are powered by both mains (preferred) and battery. Current sensor used on AC out2, which is outside the MultiPlus-II GX. Appliances on AC out-2 are powered from the mains in preference, in case of a possible overrun of the input AC current they are also powered from the battery. They are not powered during a mains failure. 3. Hybrid Solar ESS (Energy Storage System) - DC-coupling concept using MPPT solar controller with placement of non-backup appliances outside MultiPlus-II GX and using current sensor. The non-backup appliances are not connected to the AC output but to the AC input. A current sensor is used (measuring range 0-35A). The appliances on AC out-1 are preferably powered from PV and/or battery, and in case of lack of this power or inverter overload, also from the grid. In the event of a grid failure, they are powered from PV and/or battery (if there is available power and the inverter is not overloaded). The appliances on AC out2 are also powered preferably from PV and/or battery (via the AC input), in the event of a lack of this power or an inverter overload, also from the grid. In the event of a grid failure, these appliances are not powered (non-backed-up appliances). The PV produces power in the event of a grid failure. 4. Hybrid solar ESS (Energy Storage System) - AC coupling concept using a grid-connected PV inverter located at AC - out1 (Fronius inverters only). Appliances on AC out-1 are preferably powered by PV and/or battery, in case of lack of this energy or overload of the inverter also from the grid. In the event of a mains failure, they are powered by photovoltaics and/or the battery (if there is available power and the inverter is not overloaded). The appliances on AC out2 are also powered preferably by photovoltaics and/or the battery, in the event of a lack of this power or an inverter overload, also by the mains. In the event of a grid failure, these appliances are not powered (non-backed-up appliances). The PV produces energy in the event of a grid failure. The MultiPlus-II GX can charge the battery from the PV via its AC output and regulate the power of the grid-connected inverter in frequency or data terms if necessary (low consumption, battery charged).
