Detailed information

Product detailed description

SAFEHOME 808COM carbon monoxide gas detector
This product is a handy voice alert detector designed to indicate carbon monoxide leaks and all commonly occurring explosive gases in homes (natural gas, methane, propane, butane) and residential areas without significant hazard.

The device is ideally suited to detect gas from all domestic gas appliances, gas boilers and indicates leaks of combustible gas used for heating, cooking or reheating.

The SAFE 808COM is equipped with two independent sensors that do not require additional calibrations or a TEST button to trigger a function that allows the device to verify the operability of internal circuits using an automatic efficiency monitoring system.

The device stands out for its measurement stability, high sensitivity, long service life and compact size.

The device is controlled by a microprocessor and signals CO and gas leaks both optically and acoustically via an 85 dB buzzer.

If the detector detects a hazard, the device will sound an audible buzzer accompanied by the flashing of a red "DANGER" LED and a voice alert "Please beware, carbon monoxide leak!" or "Attention, gas leak!".

With this warning message, the detector display simultaneously shows the current measured value.

This combined CO, flammable and explosive gas detector protects you and your family from two dangerous threats at the same time.

The device is powered from 230V/AC mains with a 9V NiMH battery backup in case of power failure in the mains (battery not included).

Function test
The device is equipped with a test function, which serves to artificially simulate the presence of CO or gas and allows the operability of the internal circuits to be verified through an automatic efficiency monitoring system.

LCD display
It displays not only the current CO and combustible gas values, but also other additional information such as the capacity of the backup battery via a bar graph, the connection to the network, etc. The backlit LCD display allows the recognition and comparison of low and high values of potential danger.

Voice alert function
The acoustic signal of the alarm siren is accompanied by a human voice (in Slovak language) informing about the detected danger "Please beware, carbon monoxide leakage!" or "Please beware, gas leak!".

Where to install the detector
Combined carbon monoxide, combustible and explosive gas detectors are installed in rooms with potential CO or gas leaks (bathrooms, gas boiler rooms, kitchens, rooms with hot tubs, karma, direct flues, thermometers, etc.).

The basic criterion for the correct positioning of the detector is the identification of the gas, i.e. whether we are detecting a light gas (rising up to the ceiling) or a heavy gas (falling to the floor).

According to this criterion we will choose the installation site. We always install the gas detector on the wall, depending on the type of gas detected, either under the ceiling (approx. 15-30 cm) or above the floor (approx. 15-30 cm), at a distance of at least 1.2 m from the fuel-burning device to minimize false alarms that can occur during a short gas leak, for example when lighting a gas boiler or stove, and at a distance of approx. 60 cm from the corners, i.e. the place where two walls converge.

Properties of gases and their mass relative to air
Propane butane (LPG): heavier than air, sinks to the floor.
Carbon monoxide (CO), natural gas (LNG, CNG): lighter than air, rises up to the ceiling.
Petroleum substances: heavier than air, sink to the floor.
Ethylene: Lighter than air, rises up to the ceiling.

What is carbon monoxide?
Carbon monoxide is a colourless, tasteless and odourless gas that is produced when fossil fuels such as coal, oil, natural gas, LPG, coal and wood are combusted badly. It can also be produced by poorly maintained or faulty fuel-burning appliances intended for domestic heating, such as: boilers, gas appliances, karmas, barbecues, blocked chimneys, ventilation systems or damaged flue pipes.

Common symptoms of CO poisoning include headache, nausea, fatigue or muscle pain - but these can easily be confused with a diagnosis of flu.

What is natural gas?
Natural gas is piped into your house. Unless you live in the country, you probably use natural gas. It is the predominant energy for heating houses. Natural gas is a fossil fuel containing almost exclusively methane. Methane is much lighter than air and rises upward when it escapes.

If you are a natural gas user, we recommend installing this detection device about 30 cm from the ceiling to ensure that gas leaks are detected as quickly as possible.

What is propane?
Propane is most often delivered to the home in liquid form and is stored near the home in propane tanks. Propane is used in homes in rural areas where natural gas is not piped in. Since propane is the most commonly used LPG (liquefied petroleum gas), the terms for pan and LPG are often used with the same meaning. Unlike natural gas, propane is much heavier than air and stays low to the ground. Therefore, we recommend installing this detection device low to the floor to ensure that a gas leak is caught as quickly as possible.

That's why it's important to protect your family and home with carbon monoxide and combustible gas detectors.
