The VOLT Green Boost 3000 solar charge controller, also known as GREEN BOOST MPPT-3000, feeds power from photovoltaic panels straight into heating appliances and is well suited to water heating. The wiring is undemanding.

Operation requires 4 to 9 ordinary PV panels rated 250 W to 400 W, connected in series so that their combined voltage lies between 120 V and 350 V. What is the MPPT 3000 converter for in this setup? The panels produce direct current, which is not suitable for heating directly, so the inverter inside the unit turns it into alternating current.
